Wedding extravagance and Vegas decadence!

K: We took a break from camping and headed to NYC for the weekend to attend a wedding. My sorority sister Lori was throwing a wedding that just could not be missed. Since she began throwing herself birthday parties in the '80's, I knew her wedding would be very special and quite the event! Plus, there is really nothing better than a New York Jewish wedding... eating for 5 hours, dancing for 4 hours and the main course served at midnight!! Plus, the event was held at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Tarrytown, NY. Stone Barns is an organic, sustainable farm run by Dan Barber. It is quite a place with delicious, fresh food. If you get the chance, I highly recommend it.

Now we are in Vegas for two days. Dinner last night at RM Seafood (Rick Moonen's restaurant). Amazing! And tonight Penn and Teller. We return to the road tomorrow.

V: Wow, what a departure from the wilds of Utah to the ... wilds of NYC! A bit of a shock getting back to 'civilization', as some may call it, and I nearly had a fainting spell and severe palpitations as I had to don the tuxedo for the wedding. Quite the wedding it was. Fun to hear it mentioned on "Regis and Kelly" this morning. Yes, they were there also, and are ... ummm... height-challenged, aren't they.
Vegas has changed quite a bit since my year teaching here back in '86. Looking forward to Penn and Teller show tonite at the Rio. And maybe we'll hit a fun lounge tonite. I could have been a cheesy lounge singer, and an even better, gold chain-wearing, shirt-unbuttoned-to-my-navel, slimy lounge lizard!
I think it's camping in Death Valley, CA, tomorrow nite! Yeah, back into the wilds!
