From 12,00 feet to 4,000 feet or 35 degrees to 75 degrees

K:
We traveled from the snow-capped Rockies of Aspen through the mesas of Western Colorado to the Canyonlands of SE Utah. With a dramatic elevation change, we gained nearly 4o degrees in temperature!!! The sequence of photos reflect the dramatic change in scenery.
V: It was fun to mingle a bit with the 'beautiful' people of Aspen.
But, hey, it was feeling a bit wintry there! Yet it was great to be heading towards the Colorado National Monument, a very seldom visited yet beautiful site. And the little shortcut road, 128, from I-90 to Moab, is a stunning drive right along the Colorado River. It is a road well worth driving, and few people do.
I had thought we might have a little trouble getting a camping spot at Arches National Park on a Saturday night, yet had no clue that every single campsite and hotel room in Moab would be taken. So, off we go up to Green River. We plan to resume camping tomorrow, along the Colorado River outside of Moab. Hiking in Arches is tomorrow's activity.

Highlights:

Sips: Uinta Pale Ale (yes, the restaurant in Utah did serve beer).
Bites: First, shopping at the "sustainable", "organic" farmer's market in Aspen where we purchased freshly roasted chilis, organic apples and fresh beer-infused bison brats. I loved purchasing the chilis next to a woman carrying a real Hermes Birkin bag! Gotta love Aspen.
Second, dinner in Green River, Utah, at Tamarisk. The menu featured a wide variety of entrees with several featuring both cheese sauce and Hollandaise sauce. Interesting combination.

Sights: Colorado National Monument, a dramatic expanse of canyons and stone pillars. Following the Colorado River into Moab, winding through dramatic canyons and rock towers and red, red soil.
